🔎 ABOUT DISCOVERING DARTMOOR 🔎
I'm Julian Baird, photographer and filmmaker from Devon and welcome to Discovering Dartmoor.
A few years ago I asked myself the questions, “What do I know about Dartmoor? What makes this place so unique?”
When I couldn’t answer those questions, I made a commitment to myself to not only see more of Dartmoor, but to learn more about it.
And from that commitment, Discovering Dartmoor was born, a 5 part video series where I explore and photograph 24 of Dartmoor's finest locations and speak to some of Dartmoor's most passionate ambassadors so I could find out for myself what makes Dartmoor so special.

    Brilliant Jools! I cannot emphasise just how good this is. I have just watched this first episode from start to finish and am so looking forward to the next episode. Everything is so professional about this, your presentation is excellent and I love your passion. It really shines through. It’s so good to watch something so informative and well made about Dartmoor. I honestly don’t think this could be improved upon. It really makes me want to get out on Dartmoor today. The thing that has kept me from buying that printer is having to send it in for service for the waste ink pad. I hear it's pretty expensive. Anybody know anything about that?

    • @jbairdexp
      @jbairdexp 5 днів тому

      This is just my experience, but I've used this printer a lot and I've never had to replace the waste ink pad. Didn't need to do it for my Pro-10S either.

    • @jerryinsc
      @jerryinsc 5 днів тому

      @@jbairdexp Thanks for your reply and for the video. I have read some comments about that though. It isn't user replaceable and though I haven't asked Canon directly I've read that it is expensive when you have to do it. I think you get an error code or something when it's time to do it. I know the Epson 700 has a user replaceable box that only costs $20 or so but I think the Canon is built better. I've never had a printer so no first hand knowledge of any of it. Thanks again.

    I do have a question to all pixelshifters , owner of a sony a7riii with pixelshift and also pentax k1ii and kf also with pixelshift ,k1 even with a mode where movement gets corrected up to a point. So my question is , do your cameras can do pixelshift with flash as my sony ? The pentax can’t,how is it for the other brands?

    • @jbairdexp
      @jbairdexp 20 днів тому

      I believe the Nikon Pixelshift system does support flash. I don't use flash so I haven't tested it myself, but that product manual indicates flash can be used as you can add a gap between each frame (to allow a flash to recharge).

    Well Julian. I’ve just finished this final episode. I’ve had to spend a few days in London catching up with family and this morning, after watching this, I just can’t wait to get back home. A fantastic end to the series and I’m left with the feeling of wanting more. I haven’t yet had the courage to explore some of the higher tors which, might be easy for some of the more experienced walking folk, but for me it’s a big deal!!! This episode in particular has given me a bit more confidence to go and look - properly prepared of course!! Thank you for your efforts and warmest congratulations on the achievement. Dave 🎉

Dartmoor is such a special place, even at the roadside, so keep exploring. Thank you again. :-)

    Another great episode Julian, I’ve sat on that granite bench at Challacombe Farm may times with my parents having our lunch watching the Swallows and getting a visit by the friendly farm dogs who are always keen for some attention. I share your passion for Dartmoor it’s such a beautiful and wonderful place that I never tire of exploring. Well done for producing and making this wonderful series I’ve really enjoyed watching them and learnt the odd thing to.

      Thank you so much Noel! It's wonderful to hear from a person who also shares a passion for Dartmoor and has enjoyed the series. Great to hear you've also visited Challacombe Farm. It's such a beautiful and tranquil place isn't it.

    Another great episode. I’ve lived down here for over a year now Julian and it’s amazing just how much there is to discover still. Cracking job Sir. Looking forward to #5 but will be disappointed that there isn’t a #6 😢

    I have just purchased my first #100# megapixel GFX camera the new 100S ii it's a phenomenal camera. I purchased this camera because the auto focus has significantly been improved that I can use for other things as well. I'm a big GFX fan. It's not for everyone and it can be a quirky system to use and even a little bit tricky it's a bit like driving a hummer. BIg heavy ..not fast not fast.... But very effective in all conditions. In terms of image quality it is absolutely phenomenal. I was blown away. My jaw hit the ground even when I've had my GFX 50s ii but the hundred is just insane in terms of image quality. The biggest challenge with GFX cameras is depth the field and you can even do a focusing measure in the menu system which actually goes on the screen so you can see where your focusing. It's a great initiative on a GFX camera which I hadn't seen on any other camera to be honest.

      This is the great thing about cameras these days....there's a camera for everyone! While the GFX wasn't a camera for me, I appreciate hearing from passionate GFX users like yourself. :-)

    Just got back from a photo workshop in New Mexico, USA. It included a sunset shoot at City of Rocks State Park. The volcanic rock formations looked a lot like tors.

    USA viewer here. This takes me back to a visit with family in Cornwall while I was a college student. We visited Bodmin Moor, and it seemed as if my cousins and other locals didn't linger there. Because it was haunted? I don't recall.

      Depending on who you ask, you'll find most areas on Dartmoor have some sort of ghost story! It's all part of the fun. :-)
